About the Role – Accountant (Financial Reporting)

Petrogap Oil and Gas Limited is currently seeking a hands-on Accountant with exposure to treasury operations, financial reporting, and taxation. The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day accounting activities, month-end reporting, cash management, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is ready to contribute to the growth of a leading indigenous oil and gas company.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor cash flow, prepare payment schedules, and maintain effective liaison with banks.
• Support treasury activities and contribute to accurate cash flow forecasting.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and IFRS-based financial statements in compliance with relevant standards.
• Perform bank reconciliations and conduct thorough general ledger reviews to ensure accuracy.
• Ensure timely and accurate remittance of VAT, PAYE, WHT, CIT, pensions, and other statutory deductions.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies as required.
• Support budgeting processes, asset management, and internal control implementation.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support management decision-making.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (First Class or 2:1) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution.
• ACA or ACCA professional qualification is required.
• 3 to 4 years of accounting experience with demonstrable exposure to treasury operations and financial reporting.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in the Oil and Gas industry is an added advantage.
• Female candidates are preferred for this role to support gender balance within the organization.
• Age range: 25 to 30 years.
